About Me

Hi, welcome to my page

My name is James Ssekamatte. At 28 years old, I’m a civil engineer currently preparing to go back to school for my master's in structural engineering, and I’m also currently navigating the world as a Freelance Writer.

I live in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, and in my spare time: I like to read, play guitar and piano, binge Netflix shows, create youtube videos, paint amazing people and landscapes digitally, coding, and learn new design software.

I love talking about personal development beyond the fluff of “you can do it” type motivation. And here on Medium, I aim to use personal development to help people break through the barriers of society's limits and use their true selves to achieve a more fulfilled life experience. Because of that, you can expect me to explore the sorts of questions and ideas on topics like:

  • Finding your purpose
  • Spirituality Vs Religion
  • Mindfulness
  • Culture and Personal development
  • Race and Racial Development
  • What’s next after motivation
  • Mysticism and New Age theories
  • Science and personal development
  • Identity and its effects on personal development
  • Nature of Personal reality

Engineering has taught me to do extensive reading, experimentation, and observation, so you can expect every piece I publish to be well researched, with solid foundations in reliable evidence from scholars & thinkers around the world as well as my personal experience that proved effective in dealing with some life challenge I had.

Outside of my personal development theme, I may also explore and write about a variety of other themes, including:
