I Couldn’t Date Her and Talk To Other Girls — She Said

Insecurity makes a terrible relationship foundation

I was recently caught up in thinking about my friendships and I couldn’t help but notice how I have over the years got so many female friends. Growing up I had very few female friends because I never moved out much at home and for school, I had my education in boys-only boarding schools apart from nursery school.

My first mixed school was when I got to university and at this point, I had a good understanding of how to make friends among boys but I was terrible when it came to talking to girls. I however became better. University forced me to learn and become better. I had so much to learn and like about the experience of having female friends so much so that I failed to notice that I had so many of them as my close friends.

When one of my close female friends recently got married and kind of started being distant from me, it for the first time occurred to me that this is how life is going to be for all others. I started thinking to myself that those memories I hold so dear are nothing but experiences that will soon be forgotten past to them when they got married. It made me sad and as I always do, I talked to someone about it.
