I Lose 70% Of My Medium Income. Yet I Keep Writing

A year in review and other thoughts. This is a rant

This is NOT a well-meaning post. I’m only channeling my thoughts raw as they come, and I’m sorry that none of them might be positive.

Last month (November 2022) I made exactly $99, down from the $151.27 I made in October 2022 but I will only be able to get $44 in my bank account.

Of that $44, I will only be able to spend about $30 to $34 depending on everything from exchange rates to transaction fees.

2022 has been filled with stagnation as I failed to break my record from 2021. My highest earning this year where I have written an average of 15 to 20 stories per month was in July when I made $275 although I’ve averaged about $80/month this year.

I expect to stay within $30 (before all the costs taxes to bank fees) this month considering that my daily earnings are struggling to reach $1.

Yes, I do understand that Medium writers are the least priority in the minds of Medium’s owners. To Medium, we are the beggars desperate enough to write full articles knowing very well that we are only going to make pennies per story if anything.

I get it, it's capitalism. Capitalism works best when a certain group is being screwed over…
